Well it’s that time again, when the year comes to a close and we look back at the events and images that shaped the past twelve months.
They say photographers are their own worst editors and it’s never an easy task to select my best images of the year. But here are a few favorites from 2012 that stood out as defining moments in my ongoing quest to see the light. -Enjoy!

A stunning collection Russ. Impossible to choose my favorites, but the images from Kings Canyon and Toluomne Meadows are particularly superb!

A fantastic selection of images, Russ–that first one of the Dusy Basin may be my favorite shot of yours ever. Incredible light.
That first one of Dusy Basin was so stunning I had a hard time getting past it to enjoy the rest of them! An impressive collection, Russ. Your images from the Sierra are a constant source of inspiration. Congrats on an amazing 2012 and best wishes for an even better 2013!

As a midwesterner, I found myself a bit envious when you mentioned most of these were close to home. My group for this year was similar, close to home – but can say the environment quite different!
