These are my favorite images from 2010. It’s always a challenge to narrow down this list (photographers are not the best editors), and there will be an addition or two from recent trips still being edited. With the exception of Boston I didn’t travel too far from home this year, which just goes to show there is always great photographic potential in your own backyard.
Giant Sequoia in winter, Giant Forest, Sequoia National Park, California
Winter dawn on Carson Peak, June Lake, California
California Poppy detail, Antelope Valley, California
Wildflower abstract, Tehachapi Mountains, Angeles National Forest, California
The Old North Church and gas street lamp on the Freedom Trail, Boston, Massachusetts
Professional cyclists at the Amgen Tour of California, Santa Monica Mountains, California
Salt pan under Telescope Peak at dawn, Death Valley National Park. California
Eroded hills below Zabriskie Point, Death Valley National Park. California
Spanish fountain at the Santa Barbara Mission, Santa Barbara, California
Sea nettles at the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Monterey, California
Low tide and sunset over Santa Cruz Island, Channel Islands National Park, Ventura, California

Excellent pics, Russ. Looks like 2010 was a great year. All the best for more beautiful images in 2011.
Thanks Matt, it was a good year. I hope yours was equally successful – all the best in 2011.

Russ your collection is amazing! Forget traveling from home, most people want to travel where you live! I especially love your poppies, and snow covered redwoods shots!
Thank you Chris. I do feel quite fortunate to live so close to so many wonderul places. It does make it hard to justify travelling too far from home.

Russ,
Sometimes I forget that living in a place like Vegas gives me easy access to places many people dream about visiting once every and I complain that I can’t get out anywhere good!
Oh yeah, Vegas is a jumping off point for all sorts of great places in southern Utah and beyond.

I am really digging that Tehachapi Mtns abstract photo. That is a definitely wall-hanger.
Thanks Richard. It was fun to experiment with that series and appropriate since the wind was not allowing for the straight shots that day.
Russ, its your wildflower abstract that really does it for me. Congrats on a super year!
Thanks Phil. Looks like you had a stellar year as well!
